After two seasons with his hometown Shiga Lakestars, veteran shooting guard Yu Okada has signed a one-year deal to play for the rival Kyoto Hannaryz. The deal was announced Tuesday.
Since joining the Takamatsu Five Arrows in 2006, Okada has been one of the bj-league's premier perimeter marksmen. He's canned 697 3-pointers in six seasons. He averaged a career-best 19.0 points per game for the Five Arrows in 2009-10.
He was 108-for-275 from beyond the arc for Shiga this past season and averaged 12.9 ppg, which was his career average entering the 2011-12 campaign, including a season-best 31 points and 7-for-13 on 3-point shots on Feb. 25.
