The Japan Football Association executive committee on Sunday finalized the promotion of vice president Kuniya Daini to president.

Daini, 67, will take over from Junji Ogura.

The 73-year-old Ogura, having reached compulsory retirement age, was appointed honorary president, while Saburo Kawabuchi, 75, the current honorary president, was named supreme adviser.

A former national team defender with 44 caps, Daini was technical director at the JFA and had been in the post since 2006.

J. League chairman Kazumi Ohigashi and Kozo Tashima remain in their vice president posts. Michihiro Tanaka takes the secretary general post that Tashima had combined with his vice presidential role.
