Japan Under-23 international Takashi Usami is to join German Bundesliga club Hoffenheim this summer on a one-year loan deal from Gamba Osaka, Hoffenheim said Wednesday on its official Website.

Usami, who endured a frustrating spell on loan with Bayern Munich since joining from Gamba last summer, has the option of joining Hoffenheim permanently next year.

Hoffenheim will pay a loan fee of €300,000 ($377,000) and €3 million ($3.7 million) next year should the 20-year-old Usami complete a full transfer, according to German daily Bild.

Usami, who is currently with Japan's U-23s at the Toulon Tournament in France, struggled to make the grade at Bayern and was restricted to just three Bundesliga appearances.

"I want to succeed in the Bundesliga and I can only do that if I am playing," said Usami. "I will do my best in training to earn chances to play at Hoffenheim."
