Hirokazu Sawamura threw a one-hitter for his second career shutout and Shinnosuke Abe hit a pair of solo homers as the Yomiuri Giants defeated the Yokohama BayStars 6-0 on Friday.

Sawamura (1-2) allowed only a single to Norihiro Nakamura in the fourth inning while striking out 10 and walking three. Hayato Sakamoto also hit a solo home run and had three of Yomiuri's 13 hits.

Tigers 3, Dragons 1

At Koshien Stadium, Tomoaki Kanemoto delivered a tiebreaking single in the fourth inning and Atsushi Nomi (2-0) threw eight innings of one-run ball, leading Hanshin over Chunichi.

The Dragons loaded the bases with two outs in the ninth against Kyuji Fujikawa, but pinch hitter Nobumasa Fukuda struck out. Chunichi has lost three in a row and five of its last six games.

Eagles 2, Fighters 1

At Sapporo Dome, Masahiro Tanaka picked up his first win of the season with eight effective innings as Tohoku Rakuten edged Hokkaido Nippon Ham.

In his second matchup against rival Yuki Saito, following one in 2011, Tanaka (1-1) gave up seven hits but limited the Fighters to one run.

The 2011 Sawamura Award winner struck out eight and walked two in a 126-pitch outing.

Luis Terrero broke a 1-1 tie with a two-out RBI single in the third off Saito (2-1), who allowed two runs, one earned, and seven hits in six-plus innings.

Darrell Rasner threw a 1-2-3 ninth for his third save.

Hawks 1, Marines 1 (9)

At Fukuoka's Yahoo Dome, Wily Mo Pena hit a game-tying solo homer in the seventh as Fukuoka Softbank played to a nine-inning tie with Chiba Lotte.

Tadahito Iguchi had an RBI double in the top of the seventh among his three hits. Hawks right-hander Tadashi Settsu went 6 2/3 innings, while Marines lefty Yoshihisa Naruse worked eight innings.
