Baltimore Orioles rookie Tsuyoshi Wada did not practice Sunday, citing inflammation in his left elbow.

Wada had an X-ray at a hospital but the area showed no structural damage. He received a cortisone injection and had fluid removed from his elbow to reduce the swelling.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said the team will likely wait a few days before re-evaluating the injury.

A former pitcher for the Japan Series champion Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, Wada arrived at spring training on Feb. 19.

He has had two bullpen sessions and had planned to throw batting practice on Sunday, but complained of discomfort after fielding drills the previous day.
