Japan striker Ryoichi Maeda will be staying with Jubilo Iwata after failing to earn a move to English second-tier side West Ham, but defender Yuichi Komano is free to move to Belgian first-division side St. Truiden from the J. League club, Iwata President Hiroyuki Yoshino said Sunday.

Former J. League Golden Boot winner Maeda, 30, had been in England on trial with the promotion-chasing Hammers, but Yoshino said he had been told that the two sides had failed to reach an agreement.

Two-time World Cup defender Komano, who helped Japan reach the second round of the World Cup for the first time on foreign soil at the 2010 finals in South Africa, is in the process of joining St. Truiden and an announcement on the transfer is expected in the coming days.
