Chinese Super League side Hangzhou Greentown has signed former Japan coach Takeshi Okada as its new manager, an official of the club's public relations office said Thursday.

Okada, who coached Japan at the 1998 and 2010 World Cups, put pen to paper Thursday morning, the official said. The club's official blog also reported the appointment of Okada the same day.

Chinese media reported the 55-year-old is scheduled to arrive in Hangzhou in late December and he has asked the club to add Chinese national team and Japanese players to its squad.

Okada will manage a foreign club for the first time.
