The Seibu Lions have signed utility player Esteban German and left-hander Randy Williams on one-year contracts for 2012.

The 33-year-old German, who is from the Dominican Republic, will make $1 million, while American Williams, a candidate for the closer's role, will be paid $900,000.

German, who played for the Texas Rangers from 2009 through 2011 and had earlier stints with the Oakland Athletics, Texas and the Kansas City Royals, can play infield or outfield. He has a .280 average with eight homers and 111 RBIs in 409 major league games.

Williams, 36, pitched for the Boston Red Sox in 2011 and has a 3-4 record with a 5.82 ERA in 97 major league appearances.
