The Fukuoka Softbank Hawks signed former Cincinnati Reds and Seattle Mariners slugger Wily Mo Pena to a two-year deal, the Pacific League club announced on Friday.

The 29-year-old Dominican power hitter brings a wealth of experience to the Japan Series-winning Hawks, having enjoyed a major league career that also included stints with the Boston Red Sox, the Washington Nationals and the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Pena hit 26 home runs during the 2004 season with the Reds and has 425 career hits and 84 homers in 599 games.

"He has been a top-class power hitter in the major leagues and is a player that we hope can hit 30 or 40 home runs if he plays a full season," Softbank said in a statement on its official website.
