Tokyo Yakult Swallows outfielder Norichika Aoki will attempt a move to the major leagues via the posting system, club president Tsuyoshi Kinugasa said Tuesday.

The Central League club has suggested it will assist with the move abroad for Aoki, 29, who would be put up for auction to the highest bidder.

"Personally, I want to assist him to make the move," said Kinugasa, who said he met with Aoki on Monday night. The club plans to give a response by Thursday after hearing the opinions of its executive board.

Aoki batted .292 with 170 hits in 144 games this season and helped lead the second-place Swallows into the final stage of the Central League Climax Series for the first time ever.
