Hanshin's Matt Murton missed out on the Central League batting title after going 0-for-4 as the Tigers won their last game of the season 2-0 against the Hiroshima Carp on Monday.

Murton, chasing the Yomiuri Giants' Hisayoshi Chono who leads the league at .316, lowered his average to .311 after going hitless in batting leadoff for the first time since August.

The Tigers scored twice in the seventh inning with back-to-back sac flies by Kazunari Morita and Yamato Maeda before Kyuji Fujikawa closed the game out to pick up his 41st save.

Hanshin finished the year with a 68-70 record.
