Yokohama BayStars president Takao Kaji said Monday that the club will remain in Japan's second-largest city next season even after its proposed sale to mobile-phone gaming company DeNA Co.
"I've been told the team will stay in Yokohama next year and beyond," said Kaji, who earlier in the day met with two executives of Tokyo Broadcasting System Holdings Inc., the club's current parent company.
"That's what we've been hoping for so we're really pleased about that."
TBS on Friday is expected to officially announce the sale of its majority stake in the BayStars to DeNA.
Kaji also said TBS did not discuss the club's new name nor the future of manager Takao Obana as well as the front office.
