Shinnosuke Abe broke a scoreless tie with a seventh-inning leadoff homer and Josh Fields followed with a two-run drive for his first home run in Japan as the Yomiuri Giants beat the Chunichi Dragons 4-0 on Sunday.

Abe connected to the stands in left-center off Enyelbert Soto (5-1) and Fields, who had stints with the Chicago White Sox and Kansas City Royals in the major leagues, went deep the same direction one out later off the lefty with a runner on second at Tokyo Dome.

Abe cushioned the lead with a run-scoring double off the top of the wall in right in the eighth. Umpires had to view video footage to confirm that the ball had not gone over for a home run.
