Shigenobu Shima hit a solo home run and an RBI double among his three hits as the Hiroshima Carp pounded out 14 hits in a 10-2 win over the Tokyo Yakult Swallows on Wednesday.

Rookie Yuya Fukui (7-6) allowed one run in five innings for the win at Jingu Stadium. Tatsuyoshi Masubuchi (6-7) took the loss.

At Nagoya Dome, Chen Wei-yin (6-7) outpitched fellow left-hander Atsushi Nomi (7-8) with seven solid innings as Chunichi ended Hanshin's unbeaten streak at five games.

Hirokazu Ibata broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the fourth. Hitoki Iwase closed out the ninth for his 23rd save.

Giants 7, BayStars 2

At Toyama Alpen Stadium, Hisayoshi Chono went 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBIs as Yomiuri beat Yokohama for its fourth straight victory.

Takahiko Nomaguchi (1-0) won in relief. Brent Leach (1-5) lasted only four innings.

The Giants moved up to second in the CL standings and drew within 1½ games of Yakult.

Eagles 4, Lions 3

At Iwate Prefectural Stadium, Takeshi Yamasaki hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning off local favorite Yusei Kikuchi as Tohoku Rakuten held on to beat Seibu.

Ryohei Isaka (2-3) threw six shutout innings. Kikuchi (3-1), who went to high school in Iwate, gave up four runs in eight innings.

Buffaloes 12, Hawks 7

At Kitakyushu Stadium, Tomotaka Sakaguchi and Mitsutaka Goto each homered and drove in three runs as Orix outslugged Pacific League leader Softbank.

The Buffaloes have won three straight. The Hawks have lost four of their last five games.
