Former Sendai 89ers center Chris Holm has agreed to the basic terms of a contract to play for the rival Niigata Albirex BB, the bj-league team announced this week.
Holm, who played for the NBA Development League's Dakota Wizards after the March 11 earthquake ended the Sendai 89ers season, must pass a physical before the deal can be finalized.
An elite-level rebounder, Holm brings inside muscle and a well-rounded game to Niigata's frontcourt, which recently lost three-time All-Star center Julius Ashby to free agency.
