Point guard Kenny Satterfield will return to the Saitama Broncos for the 2011-12 season, the bj-league team announced on Friday.
Satterfield, who led the league in assists last season (6.5 per game) while splitting time with Saitama and the Osaka Evessa, played for the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers from 2001-03. Since then, he's suited up for teams spanning the globe, including Greece, Cyprus, France, Lebanon and Mexico.
The 188-cm playmaker, whom Osaka Evessa star Lynn Washington called the best guard in league history, attended the University of Cincinnati. He's been a popular, well-known figure in his native New York City, competing in streetball tournaments for years.
Before the March 11 triple disasters, Satterfield was a bright spot for the Broncos, who suspended operations for the remainder of the season. As a temporary rental player, Satterfield then helped the Evessa reach the Final Four for the sixth straight season.
