Fresh from his second championship victory at the Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament, Mongolian ozeki Harumafuji has already turned his attention to the autumn meet and possible promotion to sumo's top rank of yokozuna.
"I want to keep this kind of form and aim for back-to-back titles," Harumafuji said Monday. The 27-year-old could join compatriot Hakuho at the top of the sumo ladder with victory in Tokyo in September.
Harumafuji, the wrestler formerly known as Ama, locked up the Nagoya title by beating Hakuho on Saturday, before losing his last bout to finish with a 14-1 mark.
"I just hit him with all my might and that led to the best result," Harumafuji said of his win over Hakuho. "I was able to wrestle my brand of sumo (through the tournament) and built up wins which gave me the championship."
