Kashima Antlers' Japan international defender Masahiko Inoha is moving to Croatia's Hajduk Split, Kashima announced Tuesday.

The seven-time J. League champions said they have reached an agreement on a transfer and Inoha has departed to finalize the move.

"To deliver results for the national team I feel I need to improve my level," Inoha said in a club statement.

"I have a chance to develop as a player and that is why I have decided to make the move," said the 25-year-old.

Miyazaki-born Inoha, who helped Japan lift the Asian Cup for a record fourth time in Qatar in January, joined FC Tokyo in 2006 before moving to Kashima two years later.

Hajduk have qualified for this season's Europa League.
