Yu Darvish tied a Pacific League record by pitching his third consecutive shutout as the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters edged the Chunichi Dragons 1-0 on Wednesday.

Darvish (8-1) gave up only three singles, struck out 10 and walked none in extending his scoreless streak to 44, the second longest ever by a PL pitcher. He has pitched a shutout in four of his last five starts.

"I always try to pitch my best game, but it's a bit scary if things go this well," Darvish said. "I was backed by solid defense and things got easier for me as the Dragons were hitting early in the count."
