Brett Harper hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning as the Yokohama BayStars beat the Yomiuri Giants 4-3 on Wednesday to extend their winning streak to five games.

Harper followed a two-out single by Shuichi Murata with a shot into the seats in right-center off rookie pitcher Hirokazu Sawamura (1-3) in the first night game of the season at Tokyo Dome.

Murata went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the second.

Yomiuri turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 lead in the fifth on RBI singles by Rusty Ryal, Sawamura and Ryota Wakiya before Harper's fourth home run.

Shinji Ohara (1-0) won in relief. Shun Yamaguchi picked up his seventh save.

Sawamura lost his third straight start, giving up four runs, three earned, and six hits in seven innings.

At Sendai's Kleenex Stadium, Satoshi Nagai threw his first shutout of the season as Tohoku Rakuten edged Hokkaido Nippon Ham to snap a four-game losing streak.

Nagai (2-1) scattered four hits, all singles, and struck out seven. Teppei Tsuchiya homered to right in the sixth off Masaru Takeda (2-3).

At Fukuoka's Yahoo Dome, Hitoshi Tamura hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning off Park Chan Ho (1-4) as Softbank rallied to beat Orix.

D.J. Houlton (4-1) allowed three runs in six innings for the win. Yuichi Honda had three of Softbank's 11 hits.
