Japan will play the Czech Republic and Peru in the Kirin Cup in the Asian champions' first official friendlies since the March 11 earthquake, the Japan Football Association announced on Monday.

Alberto Zaccheroni's side will first host Peru in Niigata on June 1 before taking on the Czech Republic six days later at Yokohama. The visitors will play each other on June 4 in Nagano.

"These two matches are important as it will give us a great opportunity to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers starting in September against teams with different styles, one South American and one European," Zaccheroni said.

"The overseas players will have finished their seasons by then, which will allow them to focus on these games more than usual."

Japan's under-22 team will take on Australia's London Olympic hopefuls ahead of the Peru game in a doubleheader at the Big Swan. Takashi Sekizuka's side kicks off its Olympic qualifying campaign with games against Kuwait at home and away on June 19 and 23.
