FORT MYERS, Fla. (Kyodo) Tsuyoshi Nishioka's confidence continued to grow Saturday after the Minnesota Twins second baseman had a hit in his eighth straight game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Nishioka scored twice and had an RBI double in three at-bats as the Twins beat the Rays 9-2. Minnesota opens the season on the road April 1 against the Toronto Blue Jays.
"I think it's a good sign that I'm getting one hit a day," said Nishioka, who is hitting second in the order behind Denard Span. "I'm going up there trying to get a hit, and I am."
