Jumpei Nakama's 3-pointer with 33 seconds left in overtime shattered a tie and the Tokyo Apache held off the Takamatsu Five Arrows 79-78 on Wednesday at Yoyogi National Gymnasium No. 2.
For Tokyo (12-8), which has won five straight games, Cohey Aoki scored a team-high 18 points. Robert Swift had 13 points and 11 rebounds and Kendall Dartez also scored 13 for the Apache, who trailed 30-13 after one quarter.
Rasheed Sparks paced the Five Arrows (6-20) with 18 points and Hiroyuki Kikuchi and Terrance Farley each had 16 points.
Tokyo guard Byron Eaton's buzzer-beating 3-pointer tied the game at 72-72 and sent it into overtime. Tokyo took the lead for good on Nakama's aforementioned 3.
