The defending champion Hamamatsu Higashimikawa Phoenix exhibited strength in numbers in a 79-69 series-closing sweep over the host Osaka Evessa on Monday afternoon in the bj-league.
Eight Phoenix players scored six or more points as the visitors closed out the game in style, outscoring the hosts 30-16 in the fourth quarter. Hamamatsu improved to 22-2 as Jeffrey Parmer scored a team-high 17 points. Swingman Kazutoshi Ota added 14 and Dzaflo Larkai had nine.
For the Western Conference-leading Evessa (17-7), Lynn Washington was the top scorer, finishing with 16 points. Lawrence Blackledge had 15 points and Shota Konno added 14.
