Kashima Antlers said Wednesday that Brazilian striker Marquinhos will leave the J. League first-division club as his contract expires this season.

He is hoping to continue his career in Japan or elsewhere with another team.

Marquinhos, 34, had stints with Tokyo Verdy and Shimizu S-Pulse before joining Kashima in 2007. In 2008, he was the leading scorer with 21 goals in 30 league matches and was named Player of the Year.

He spearheaded Kashima to three successive titles from 2007 to 2009. Marquinhos has 109 goals in 229 games in the top flight.

Meanwhile, former Japan defender Go Oiwa said he will hang up his boots and retire. The 38-year-old Oiwa, who also played for Nagoya Grampus and Jubilo Iwata, scored 10 goals in 386 matches over 16 seasons in the first division.
