Marty Brown was named manager of the Las Vegas 51s for the 2011 season, the Toronto Blue Jays' Triple-A affiliate announced on Tuesday.
The 47-year-old Brown spent the last five years in Japan, most recently managing the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of the Pacific League this past season. He also managed the Central League's Hiroshima Carp from 2006-09. In the minor leagues, Brown has previously served as a skipper at the Single-A, Double-A and Triple-A levels, compiling a record of 633-582 over nine seasons.
Brown was let go by Rakuten after just one season, a 62-79-3 campaign. He was replaced by Senichi Hoshino.
