Yomiuri Giants right-hander Wirfin Obispo will move to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in a 1-for-2 trade for outfielder Toshimasa Konta and left-hander Hideki Sunaga, both clubs said Friday.
The 26-year-old Dominican Obispo, who had posted six wins and helped the Giants to the Japan Series title last season, slumped to a 2-3 record with a 5.21 ERA in 14 games this season.
Konta, a fleet-footed 30-year-old, hit .244 and had 30 stolen bases in 317 games in his eight-year career with the Fighters. Sunaga is 0-3 with a 7.53 ERA over seven years with Nippon Ham.
