Wendell White and Kibwe Trim scored 18 points apiece to lead the Kyoto Hannaryz to a season-opening, 75-64 victory over the host Oita HeatDevils on Monday night.
The Hannaryz, beginning their second season in the bj-league, closed out the game on an 11-4 run over the final 2:36.
Kyoto forward Reggie Warren added 12 points and six rebounds and Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf scored 11 points. Trim led Kyoto with 11 boards, White hauled in eight rebounds and Kyosuke Setoyama collected seven.
For Oita, Matt Lottich scored a team-best 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, Damian Johnson poured in 14, Rolando Howell added 11 and Taj Finger contributed 11 as American L.J. Hepp lost his Oita coaching debut.
