ROME (Kyodo) Alberto Zaccheroni had no reservations about taking on the head coach's job for the Japan national team and said the hunger in the team to improve was the reason he immediately accepted the offer, according to an interview Monday in Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera.

"I accepted it in a flash," Zaccheroni said of the telephone offer he received from Japan Football Association technical director Hiromi Hara.

"These national team players will not be satisfied with themselves, they can surely improve. I have a desire for both myself and the players to grow," the interview quoted the 57-year-old as saying.

"Japan only have eight players playing in Europe so I won't be going back and forth to Italy. I plan to live in Japan," said Zaccheroni.
