Hayato Sakamoto hit a solo homer among his two hits and Hideki Asai threw six shutout innings as the Yomiuri Giants beat the Hanshin Tigers 3-0 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep.
The Giants pulled within percentage points of the Tigers for first place in the Central League.
Sakamoto led off the bottom of the first inning with his 24th home run of the season and also scored the second run in the third on an Alex Ramirez single after a base hit to lead off the inning.
