Former NBA point guard Kenny Satterfield will play for the Saitama Broncos, the bj-league club said on Thursday.
Satterfield, a McDonald's All-American in 1999 at New York City's Rice High School, played at the University of Cincinnati for two seasons. He was selected in the second round (54th overall pick) by the Dallas Mavericks in the 2001 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Denver Nuggets and played 36 games as a rookie in the 2001-02 season. He appeared in 22 games for Denver in the 2002-03 season before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, for whom he appeared in 17 games that season.
Satterfield played in 75 NBA games (10 starts), averaging 14.2 minutes and 4.3 points.
Since then, he's played in a number of pro leagues around the world, including stops in Argentina, Lebanon, Venezuela, Mexico and Greece. Satterfield helped the Albany (N.Y.) Legends win the 2010 IBL title in July. He scored 30 points and dished out seven assists in the championship contest.
In recent days, he's been spotted at NYC's famous Rucker Park, chatting with Kobe Bryant at the World Basketball Festival. On Sunday, he played for the Sean Bell All-Stars in the Hoops in the Sun championship game in New York and scored 21 points in the final.
