NISHINOMIYA, Hyogo Pref. (Kyodo) Shunta Tanaka and Takumi Oshiro drove in seven runs between them, Shunta Hifumi pitched nine innings and Tokaidai Sagami beat Kyushu Gakuin 10-3 to book a semifinal berth at the National High School Baseball Championship on Thursday.

The Kanagawa school booked a spot in the final four for the first time since winning the summer title in 1970 and will face Chiba's Narita at Koshien Stadium on Friday.

In other quarterfinal action, Hotoku Gakuen defeated Niigata Meikun 2-1 and will meet powerhouse Konan of Okinawa, which is bidding to win both the spring and summer titles in the same year, in the other semifinal.

Hifumi struck out nine and allowed nine hits while walking four. Tokaidai Sagami put the game away with a four-run ninth against the Kumamoto school, which scored all its runs in the eighth inning.
