Yosuke Shimabukuro pitched eight effective innings as Okinawa's Konan beat Seiko Gakuin of Fukushima 10-3 to book a spot in the semifinals at the National High School Championship on Wednesday.

Konan, which is bidding to become only the sixth school to win both the spring and summer titles in the same year, broke a 3-3 tie on Kai Kedashiro's two-run triple in the fourth inning at Koshien Stadium.

Shimabukuro allowed three runs and nine hits while striking out eight and walking none. Hiroaki Saiuchi had a lackluster performance, lasting just 3 2/3 innings for Seiko Gakuin.

In another quarterfinal, Ryo Nakagawa held the damage to three runs over nine innings in Narita's 6-3 win over Tokyo's Kanto Daiichi.

Nagakawa scattered 10 hits and struck out eight, leading the way for Chiba's Narita to make the final four for the first time in 58 years.

Yuji Kimura hit a two-run triple in a three-run first and Narita added runs in the third, seventh and eighth innings. Kanto Daiichi's Kazuki Ide lasted just 2 1/3 innings.

On Thursday in other quarterfinal action, Kyushu Gakuin (Kumamoto) plays Tokaidai Sagami (Kanagawa) while Hotoku Gakuen (Hyogo) takes on Niigata Meikun.
