The next national team coach will be decided in mid-August, newly-elected Japan Football Association President Junji Ogura said on Wednesday.

JFA technical committee director Hiromi Hara is responsible for selecting candidates from overseas.

Ogura said once talks are in motion, "We will look to get a provisional contract signed (at the site)." He stressed that he has left negotiations up to Hara and JFA Vice President Kuniya Daini.

"The next coach of the national team should be someone who is suited for Japanese players and can lead the team to a better result at the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil than what we achieved in South Africa," Ogura said.

Japan's next match is scheduled for Sept. 4, a friendly against a team yet to be named.
