I'm just back from a summer trip to the United States with time in northern New Jersey, where the big news last week was the death of New York Yankees owner George "The Boss" Steinbrenner on July 13, and the press coverage was extensive.

The Newark Star-Ledger carried the story on Page 1 of the whole paper — not just the sports section — featuring a large photo of Steinbrenner superimposed with a report covering the entire page.

The article jumped to an inside page where there were about a dozen sidebars covering everything from the lengthy and repetitive (read Billy Martin) list of managers who led the Yankees during the Steinbrenner era, to his re-connecting with former Yankees great catcher and manager Yogi Berra after years of estrangement.
