Rookie Hisayoshi Chono went 3-for-4 with a homer and five RBIs as the Yomiuri Giants outslugged the Yakult Swallows 14-8 on Monday.
Chono hit a three-run homer in the second inning and a two-run single that gave the Giants an 8-7 lead in the sixth at Tokyo Dome.
"I just tried to get on base in both situations," Chono said of his two clutch hits. "I went the opposite way for that home run. That was pretty good. (On finishing a triple shy of the cycle) I didn't care about that."
