Japan Football Association president Motoaki Inukai hinted on Monday that the next national team coach will be named in August or later.
"The JFA technical committee will do an assessment of the World Cup once it finishes and will draw conclusions on what the Japan team lacks, how to make it stronger and on what sort of team it should be," Inukai said after returning from South Africa.
"After drawing such conclusions, we will negotiate with candidates for the next Japan coach," he added. When asked by reporters if the talks with the next coach will be in August, he said, "I suppose it would be."
Among candidates listed so far by the JFA are Argentine Marcelo Bielsa, who led Chile to the second round of the ongoing World Cup, and former Argentina coach Jose Pekerman.
"The next coach should have philosophy and not be stubborn. He should be on good terms with the media and also be charismatic," Inukai said. "I don't intend to select by name value."
