Japan's World Cup squad arrived Sunday at their base camp in George, South Africa, on a chartered flight from Geneva.

The three-time Asian champions will open their Group E campaign on June 14 against Cameroon in Bloemfontein before facing the Netherlands five days later in Durban and then wrapping up the first round on June 24 against Denmark in Rustenburg.

Takeshi Okada's men have lost four friendly matches in a row, most recently a 2-0 loss to the Ivory Coast on Friday, despite his target of a place in the semifinals in South Africa.

Japan, who had been training in the Alpine village of Saas-Fee since May 26, have never won a match on foreign soil in their three World Cup finals. Their two wins at the 2002 finals were both in Japan.

The Blue Samurai lost to England 2-1 in a warm-up match in Graz, Austria, on May 30 before their humbling by the Ivory Coast.

Okada has told reporters he expects to be without Yasuyuki Konno for the opening match against Cameroon after the FC Tokyo utility player suffered ligament damage in his right knee in Friday's match.
