Toshiya Sugiuchi threw seven effective innings to become the winningest pitcher in Japanese baseball and the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks erupted in a five-run fifth in a rout of the Yomiuri Giants 10-2 on Wednesday.

Sugiuchi (8-1) allowed two runs on six hits while striking out eight and walking four in interleague action at Tokyo Dome.

"I was extremely frustrated at my last outing so I pledged not to pitch like that again," said Sugiuchi, who got a no-decision after allowing five runs over seven-plus innings in a 6-5 win against the Tokyo Yakult Swallows on May 16.
