Catania striker Takayuki Morimoto said Tuesday he aims to make an impact in his World Cup debut with Japan in South Africa.

"I'll try to make good preparations and give my all at the World Cup," Morimoto said upon arrival from Italy. "I'm a forward, so I want to score."

The shaven-headed 22-year-old saw his playing time reduced in the recently concluded Serie A season, in which he scored five goals.

"I still had various experiences during the season," said Morimoto, who is considering a transfer for next season.

"I know a lot of people are watching the World Cup, so I'll try to show my potential."
