Baruto showed no signs of cracking on his debut at sumo's second-highest rank of ozeki and rammed out top-ranked maegashira Toyonoshima to make it five wins out of five at the Summer Grand Sumo Tournament on Thursday.
The former nightclub bouncer from Estonia was all business at Ryogoku Kokugikan to stay unbeaten with lone yokozuna and championship favorite Hakuho, who also won handsomely to cement his place among the early pacesetters at the 15-day meet in Tokyo.
Also improving to 5-0 were Aran and Shimotori.
Baruto quickly got hold of Toyonoshima's mawashi belt before ushering his opponent over the straw ridge. Toyonoshima dropped to 0-5.
Hakuho extended his winning streak to 22 bouts by deploying a well-timed overarm throw against Kotoshogiku, improving his head-to-head record against the komusubi to 21-1.
Elsewhere, Georgian maegashira Tochinoshin bulldozed Kaio with a full-fledged push to beat the fourth-ranked ozeki.
