Former Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles manager Katsuya Nomura has been hospitalized, sources said Wednesday.

Nomura, 74, who skippered the Eagles for three seasons through last season and is currently an honorary manager for the club, is in a Tokyo hospital.

According to one source, Nomura was hospitalized on Monday and then rushed to another hospital. There is also information that he was diagnosed with a dissecting aneurysm of the aorta.

However, a baseball source close to Nomura said, "He appears to have caught a cold but it is nothing serious."
