Atsunori Inaba hit a walk-off single with two outs in the 10th inning and Yu Darvish pitched nine shutout innings as the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters beat the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles 1-0 on Saturday.
Kensuke Tanaka singled, stole second and scored on Inaba's single to center off Shinichiro Koyama (1-1) in the 10th at Ocean Stadium. Tanaka finished 3-for-5.
"I couldn't come though in clutch situations in my previous at-bats. I'm glad I did in the end," said Inaba, who had left a runner on second in each of his first three at-bats. "Darvish was pitching really well, so I feel bad that he had to settle for a no-decision."
