FUKUOKA (Kyodo) Fukuoka Softbank Hawks outfielder Shotaro Ide has been traded to the Yokohama BayStars for right-hander Teruaki Yoshikawa, both clubs announced Tuesday.

Softbank had been looking to add depth to its bullpen while Yokohama has been in the market for a right-handed batting outfielder since the offseason.

Ide, 26, joined the Daiei Hawks (currently Softbank) in 2002. He has a .230 career batting average with four home runs and 39 RBIs in 146 games through last season.

Yoshikawa, 28, joined the BayStars in a pre-draft arrangement in 2004. He has a 1-6 record with a 7.20 ERA in 67 games. Neither player has played on the top team this season.
