The Yokohama BayStars said Wednesday they have agreed on a contract with former major league right-hander Tomokazu Ohka.
The 34-year-old will be unveiled at a press conference on Thursday.
Ohka, who is expected to add depth to BayStars' starting rotation, returns to the Yokohama club for the first time since playing there from 1994-98.
Ohka appeared in 34 games for the BayStars and was 1-2 with no saves and a 5.56 ERA in 57 1/3 innings.
Ohka was released from the Cleveland Indians last year as a free agent after going 1-5 with a 5.96 ERA in 18 games, including six starts, in 2009.
He joined the Quintana Roo Tigers of the Mexican League last month, only to be released a week later.
Ohka began his major league career with the Boston Red Sox in 1999 and also had stints with the Montreal Expos (now the Washington Nationals), the Milwaukee Brewers and the Toronto Blue Jays.
He has 51 career major league wins, second most by a Japanese player after former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hideo Nomo's 123 victories.
