TEMPE, Ariz. (Kyodo) Ichiro Suzuki went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Seattle Mariners beat the Los Angeles Angels 12-6 in a spring training game Sunday.
Ichiro singled in the first inning and tripled in two runs in the seventh. Angels designated hitter Hideki Matsui was 1-for-2 with an RBI in the game.
Matsui was scheduled to play defense for the first time since June 2008 in Monday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
At Fort Myers, Fla., Houston Astros second baseman Kazuo Matsui went 2-for-3 with a double and a two-run homer in a 10-7 win over the Boston Red Sox in a split-squad game called during the eighth inning because of rain.
