Yokohama F. Marinos club president Akira Kaetsu left for Spain on Thursday ahead of a final round of negotiations to capture the signature of unsettled Espanyol midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura, Yokohama team official Yoshiaki Shimojo said.

Marinos have already agreed to terms with former player Nakamura, and Kaetsu is set to meet senior officials of the Spanish first-division side to thrash out a deal which could be reached as early as Friday.

"It seems negotiations will start within the framework of the terms Marinos have put forward," said Shimojo, who is in charge of team affairs at the J. League outfit.

Kaetsu has not divulged the financial terms or length of the contract but said on Sunday that Yokohama was hopeful of wrapping up a deal in time for the start of the J. League season on March 6.
