The JOMO Sunflowers successfully defended their national title with a 65-59 win over the Toyota Antelopes in the women's final at the basketball national championships on Sunday.

JOMO ace Yuko Oga scored nine points in the second quarter alone to help the Sunflowers turn a 13-15 deficit into a 31-26 halftime lead at Yoyogi National Gymnasium.

She added 14 points in the second half to finish with a match-high 25 points. Hitomi Suzuki had 19 points, including five 3-pointers, for the Antelopes but their star player Ryoko Yano was held to seven points.

In men's action, the Aisin SeaHorses will aim for their third straight national title against the Hitachi Sunrockers in a rematch of the 2009 final on Monday.
