Yomiuri Giants outfielder Yoshitomo Tani re-signed with the Japan Series champion Tuesday on a one-year deal for ¥240 million, up ¥20 million from 2009.
Tani, 36, batted .331 with 11 homers and 48 RBIs in 101 games last season as the team's sixth hitter in the order.
"I am satisfied with the team's evaluation of me," said Tani.
It was his second round of talks after he declined an offer Yomiuri made last Thursday.
"The team appreciated my good performance that came later in the season," said Tani, who hit .370 with 31 RBIs in 46 games starting in August.
He added: "I want to fight for a spot in the outfield and play in all the games."
Tani also slugged a grand slam in Game 4 of the Central League Climax Series second stage against the Chunichi Dragons.
Tani spent 10 years with the Orix Buffaloes before he was traded to the Giants in a multiplayer deal in the 2006 offseason.
Takahashi update
HIROSHIMA (Kyodo) Left-hander Ken Takahashi, who was released by the New York Mets at the end of the 2009 season and will rejoin the Hiroshima Carp, said Tuesday he hopes to show that his foray into the majors was no mistake.
The 40-year-old made the comments in an unveiling ceremony at a press conference at Mazda Stadium after agreeing to a salary of ¥25 million, plus performance incentives.
"I want to contribute to us winning. I want to be able to say that my going to the majors wasn't a mistake," he said.
