Hard-throwing Japanese reliever Ryota Igarashi has received offers from serval major league clubs.

"I have received offers from multiple teams," Igarashi said at Narita airport Sunday before departing to Arizona for month-long training.

The 30-year-old right-hander filed for free agency last month after going 3-2 with three saves and a 3.19 ERA in 56 games in his 10th season with the Yakult Swallows.

He has a 47-29 career record with 54 saves and a 3.25 ERA in 507 games.

Igarashi is tied with Hideki Irabu and Kazuo Yamaguchi for the fastest pitch thrown by a Japanese pitcher in the domestic leagues.

He clocked 158 km per hour, or 98 mph, in 2004 before undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2006.

"I want to get into shape to do well in the majors," Igarashi said.

He has hired Arn Tellem, the agent for World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, as his representative.
